Shoes Etiquette

As most ladies understand, wearing high heels all day long can be very hard to do, especially if it involves standing the whole day in the office. Some companies allow staff to wear sandals or slippers when they are in their own office or department. But, of course, there are rules and shoes etiquette that you have to oblige and understand.

Always, remember that whatever you wear will not just represent yourself, but also your company’s and casual never override formality in the office.

Let’s check five handy tips on shoes etiquette in the office that may be useful for women and men.

1. Don’t wear your `Selipar Jepun’ or rubber sandals.

Don’t ever wear your `selipar Jepun’ that are made of rubber. Normally people use these at home either to go to the washroom or to do an outdoor cleaning. Wear dressier sandals that are made with quality materials such as leather or suede. Good quality sandals make your appearance more polished and upscale. Regardless of how casual your office is, it is never too casual.

2. Make sure they fit

Do not wear someone else’s sandals as they are prone to be either smaller or too big for your feet. If they are too small, they will offend your toes and it is not good for your health. Don’t wear shoes that are too big as they will make your feet too small and it will definitely look like you are borrowing from other people or from a `big foot.’ Not to mention it would be really difficult to walk in them. You might end up tripping and that would be doubly embarrassing !

3. Treat your heel crack

Some of us may have this problem on our feet and it is not something that is esthetically appealing. Treat your heel first by using a pumice stone or similar implement to sand down the hard calluses. But if it is taking too long to treat, just wear your covered shoes.

4. Trim your nails

Don’t let your nails look like they belong to Ice Aged people. Trim your nails and make sure they are clean as your feet will be clearly visible unless you are wearing closed toe or court shoes.

5. Never wear your sandals for a meeting

It doesn’t matter how expensive your sandals are, never wear them for a meeting with your customer or clients, or for a Board Meeting. What…you want to wear your Crocs..? Always remember you want to be remembered for your brilliant ideas, not your fashion faux pas of a suit, tie and purple crocs.
